Canada Iron and Metal Co. Ltd. was founded by Saul and Leon Kaminsky in 1937 on Eastern Avenue in an industrial area of Toronto. It is a family owned and opeated company. Canada Iron operated in the east end of Toronto until 1990, when they moved to Jane St. and Dundas St. West, where they are located at the present.
After some rough times, Canada Iron has managed to thrive throughout the years. In the past two decades, while the rest of Canada has been slowly adopting the philosophy of recycling, we, the Kaminsky brothers, have learned the scrap business in Toronto, and Canadians have started to embrace the idea of recycling.
The Metro Toronto works department estimates that commercial recycling industries divert 1.5 million tonnes of waste from Metro dumps each year. About a million tonnes of that is recyclable scrap metal.
